Management Structure
NARDO management structure is designed to encourage flexibility and autonomy on the part of its 17 core management and support staff. The structure creates space of intellectual creativity and innovation and provides encouragement to staff members and other partners to adopt desirable working conditions. It is also designed to ensure maximum accountability and quality output. The key management organs of NARDO comprise the Board of Trustees, Executive Director, two Programme Directors and support staff. NARDO has developed functional management practices, stringent internal control systems and policies to monitor key features and outputs.
NARDO has its headquarters office in Doolo Somalia covering Doolo, Belet Hawa and Luuq. Nardo also has field office in Elwak covering Elwak, Bardere, Burdub and Garbaharey in Gedo region Somalia. It has a liaison office at Talex Mogadishu and on Muchai Drive off Ngong Road, Nairobi Kenya.
The Organization is empowered by a group of experts who represent it in their respective humanitarian field of work. The founders are of Somali origin that have undergone through the Kenyan education system, and have an experience with the war torn Somalia. The Somali experience has sharpened the focus of NARDO on the education sector, other vulnerable groups in Somalia which comprise the poorest of the poor and hence the aspiration to mitigate their suffering.
NARDO has developed and trained its staff with proper management practices, systems and policies and the following procedures manuals and policies are in place:
- Financial Policy and Procedures.
- Project Accounting Management Policy.
- Human Resource Development Policy.
- Health and Safety.
The Organization personel have undergone some training including SOCSIC Program and Initiative Consultants in NGO sustainability and leadership development by Oxfam-Novib: Building effective and sustainable NGO by NGO Consortium. NARDO has an Account at Amal Bank and Dahabshil in Somalia/Kenya. It receives all grants and donations through its current Account which are funds specific. There is properly system of accountability and responsibility and safe guards such segregation of duties put in place to ensure proper and prudent use of funds.
