Mrs. Nuurto Ali Adan is 21 years old mother who has two kids a daughter and son, aged 2 and 3 respectively, she and her 2 children live with her husband in qansaxley IDP.
Initially they migrated from Diinsoor town of bay region, they were agro-pastoralists, their family lost their livestock and crops during the severe drought of 2018 and since then settled in Qansaxley IDP and they live here more than 4yrs. The mother of two is a house wife currently with no job to support her children and her husband is fundi as he is the sole individual to sustain their family, the father sustains his family with the small income he gets from the labour job he does. She never received assistance from other NGOs operating in the IDP.
Mrs Nurto was grateful when her family and six neighbour families got latrine desludging for Safe disposal of excreta, so that it does not contaminate the environment, water, food or hands, is essential for ensuring a healthy environment and for protecting personal health. Sanitation is therefore a critical barrier to disease transmission.
The neighbourhood of nurto now feels easy by way of getting somehow new latrine as they were going to far neighbours in search of latrine usage. Mrs. Nuurto told Nardo “that she appreciates for the desludging of the latrine as health improvement comes from the proper use of sanitation facilities, not simply their physical presence, and they may be abandoned if the level of service does not meet the social and cultural needs of community members at an affordable cost.
